A Sunny Day in the Neighborhood

Mason and I took advantage of the sun today and spent the afternoon in the park.  Mason loves to swing, go down the slide, walk around the play structures and most of all eat/play in the bark.

 Peak-a-Boo
 Check out my four teeth!

I'm ready to climb up to go down the slide.
 I love the gears!

Ringing the bell.

We had a great time and the fresh air really wore both of us out.  Once we got home I wanted to switch out a bit of Mason's clothes that he has FINALLY out grown!(his 3 to 6 month pants)  Well I brought all the drawers down stairs so that Mason could play as I was doing it.  Once I was done, I put the baby gate up and took the drawers back upstairs.  Mason screams when you leave him down stairs but it is too hard to try to do it with him or allow him to go up and down with you.  He has mastered going up but is still really bad at going down without LOTS of help.  Well I am sure you know where I am going with this story.....I am up stairs he is down stairs screaming and all of a sudden I hear a laugh and there he is at the top of the stairs.  Now it was no more then 3 to 5 minutes and I was talking to him the whole time.  I am still trying to figure out how he got OVER the baby gate and did not nose dive into the stair on the otherside, but none the less he got OVER it, did not pull in DOWN and did NOT KILL himself.  Thank God for the last part of that because when I saw him at the top of the stairs all I could think was oh my God how did you get up here!  I hope everyone had a great weekend and if you have any ideas of how to child proof the baby gate/stairs I would LOVE to hear them!

Seattle Aquarium

Mason and I took our first trip to the aquarium today.  We had such a great time!  We met up with Kimberli and her daughter.  From the start Mason was his same old flirty self!  I will say it was fun to catch up and to play at the aquarium.  I tried to take some pictures but every time I would put the camera up Mason would try to grab it.  I am really ready for this phase to be over so that we can have good photos again.

The first stop was the tide pool that you are able to play in.  Mason went to town splashing and even enjoyed touching the starfish.  Before we were soaked we even touched a sea urchin.

We then walked through the jellyfish arch.  Mason then decided he could be independent and walk on his own.
He found the octopus and had lots of fun playing with the legs on the wall.
All of the bright lights had both kids memorized.  Then add the color fish to the tank and they were really impressed.

Here is a crab that Mason liked watching walk around the tank.
 Finally one at his height.
Checking out the people that were around us.
This part of the Aquarium is actually under the pier so the tank is all around you.  Mason of course loved showing off how he could climb up the stairs and down again.
The last stop was to see the new baby otter that was born mid January.  We were not able to see her but we had a fun time getting splashed by the waterfall.  It made me think of the last time I was at the Aquarium and I took this picture.........
I can't wait to have lots more of these kinds of memories with Mason.  It is crazy how your experience changes when you get to experience it through your child.

I hope everyone had a great week.  I can't wait to share what Mason and I have been doing in preparation for Valentine's Day and another first that Mason did this week but for now it is Good Night.
